Chapter 4:Brink
Footsteps thundered hurriedly away from me. Ringing sounded in my ears. I could barely think, let alone see. All I could depend on was my ears but even they were failing.
I lay awake in what seemed for ever wandering waiting, breathing, trying to plan ahead.
I eventually got the strength to sit up and I poised my back against the wall. I gathered my senses and bearings and realised I was still in the hall. I used my might to see what the time was. 6:30 I had been out of it for about an hour I thought, as I remembered looking at the clock. When the paramedic had been here.
I looked at my arm it was cut, deep. Much deeper than any cuts I had inflicted. She'd done it I thought with a menacing grin. She could never come up with a excuse to cover up this 'accident'.
I heard footstpes and turned my head quick enough to see the mother rampaging towards me.
"You should of moved. You should of moved", she kept muttering under her breath. Low and behold in her hand was a bandage and she knelt down humming softly. Like she used too. I leant my head back against the wall and breathed in a deep breath of fresh air.
Maybe this was the end of it maybe she'd learnt her lesson.
"Get out of my sight!", she gave me the dirtiest look imaginable. As if the cut on my arm was my fault. I couldn't believe it. 'My fault! My fault!' the voice pounded and screamed in my head. I fought my weak muscles and finally managed to get to the safety of my room.
Behind closed doors I held my cure. Crimson tears fell, as I counted down what I thought was finally over. My surrondings vanquished, as I let myself go in to a torment of dreams.
